Are lawyers more apt to prove their case before a judge and make their case before a jury?

I have had contact with many judges in my life because I used to work for the Civic Courts in Chicago. You have no idea how many incompetent people pass for judges. When I worked there, money talked and the guilty walked. Not all judges are awful, but you get the idea. I don't trust them. But a jury can be even worse. In fantasy land, the jury is fair and impartial. But in reality the jury is filled with people who have no idea how to determine the outcome of a case. The judicial system keeps me honest because I never want to be faced with being at the mercy of judge or jury.
