sounds like an obessive disorder. if it is not interfering with your life, don;t worry about it too much. many people (including myself) have obsessive tendencies. But, if it is becoming a problem, then seek medical help. Obessive compulsive disorder can be treated by the same drugs as are given for depression, and can revolutionise the lives of those who suffer.

i have a weird thing where i look at a time on a digital clock and make each of the numbers from the other numbers. i can always do it.dont know why i do though! everyone has weird ocd things, i wouldn't worry unless it becomes a big problem. i used to have this other weirdo thing where every time i went into the bathroom i had to look behind the curtains in case there was like a mad axe murderer hiding or sumthing lol!

I do the same thing. I've counted words and letters since I was old enough to count. It's just recently gotten to a place where it's almost debilitating. In my mind, everything has to be able to be divided by 4's. For instance, I count the sides of road signs, or anything square. If its not an even number I'll count anything I can find to make it even. I count the number of letters in sentences I hear people speak. It's really really annoying and if it gets much worse I'm gonna go insane!

I do all of that. I have to add or multiple the numbers or letters to equal anything divisible by 10. It drives me nuts and AI wish I could stop. I watch tv and miss what I'm watching trying to count lines in letters of anything on the screen. WISH IT WOULD STOP!!!

You should really watch this special - you would probably like it very much. It is by comedian Demetri Martin - a man who was obsessed with learning, numbers, words, and sentences. This is an amazing show, he has found a way to explain his tendencies ....this is part 1 (the rest are all on youtube) If I......

OMG i thought it was just me! It happens most when I'm reading books (and that is often). It would probably take me half the time to read the book if i weren't counting letters in sentences all the damn time! I take any sentence or couple of words and count until i find words/sentences that are divisible by 3 or 4 -- but for some reason my most "favorite" (sick..i know!) is making sure/ counting letters to total 24. Not only do i do this while reading books but with magazines, street signs, signs on vehicles, advertisments, items in stores, god you name it i count it. What is this ? What is the deal??

I used to love numbers, I counted everything, back when I was 5-6, I grew out of it long ago.

me too. i have to count all the sides of letters/numbers until it reaches a number i feel is acceptable (like 25 or 50 ect). i get so annoyed with myself because i can't stop myself from doing it.. and it distracts me at school.. which i don't mind ;) but i sometimes can't answer a question because i haven't been listening.
