Think about it when something good happens to you you'll tell a few people and be happy. When something bad happens you're angry and want the world to be pissed about it. I think its because bad news is fuelled by anger.

I don't think bad news travels any faster, there just seems to be so much more of it.

Because people don't get jealous with bad news. Bad news give people a chance to pull another person down. What a mentality. Talking about good news about someone else will just make insecure people more insecure so they'd rather change topic.
