Help answer this question below.
I created a fake person just to get people to like me. The real me has the intelligence of a potatoe and the personality of a pet rock.
One username
One persona
One person
I am exactly who I say I am and there are people who have seen me, spoken to me, investigated me and even met me, that could confirm it.
No sir, I'm real. We've talked on the phone. Then again, how could you determine it just by talking on the phone? We AB, we chat on IM, and we've talked on the phone. What else?
For one, I have a few videos of myself that I wouldn't put up on AB for anonymity's sake... just goofing around stuff. I think everyone is feeling very mystified by how creepy and anonymous online can be. You can see me moving around on camera, as real as anything. Browndog, my best friend and roommate, takes the videos for the most part.
One AB'er has met me. I was kinda awkward and nervous because it was the first time I ever met someone I didn't know, but he was a totally awesome sport about it.
This question is amazingly important right now. You don't know what you get online, and you have to constantly protect yourself from the real freaks out there. There is a ton of evil in the world, unfortunately, and these folks use the Internet and sink their venomous fangs here. Why? Because it is more anonymous, so it is easier, and it is without repercussion - for the most part.
I am not trying to spread the histrionics of "don't trust anyone, anywhere!" Just... be a smart consumer when you enter into a new realm. We need to bolster our AB community with the reassurance that all is being done to keep ourselves in tact. After all, I have seen someone amazing get banned and some not so amazing folks get to stay. I think that, we put all the content on these pages to make this website work and thrive, and we deserve the protection to at least become "in-the-know" of things come out of place.
I have to tell you, I feel very protective of my AB friends, and my loyalty and level of friendship has moved me to a fiery position on this day. And, I sure as hell know, that I would never want to put any of you through what you have been through in the last several days.
I is me - as you is me - as we are he - and we are all together.
Or to put it another way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFPShUSgFyI
No Someguy I am real and there are at least a few people on AB that can vouch for me if needed.
I do exist and a few people do have my phone number Name and address.
One has even been in contact with a member of my family by mail.
I would hate to cause sorrow to people that have been so kind to me by not being me.
I may not be perfect but what you see is what you get.
That's part of the internet subculture that fascinates me: people pretending to be something they're not. The most common one I've ever experienced is the "girls" who are really GIRLs (guys in real life - great acronym). I caught a few of them on AB posting in the more adult-oriented questions. It's like, they didn't even know their own anatomy; I knew more about ovulation than them, and it's not because I'm well-read on the subject let me tell you. It does, however, amuse me to no end.
I'd like to say it's easy to see who is who, but it really isn't. I pride myself on being able to read people, but it gets to a point where it's damn near impossible. You really have to take everything with a grain of salt.
Yes, I'm a real person, not much different in person. I couldn't fake someone, that's just not who I am. I'm quiet and kind of shy in person though I do open up easily, but other than that, I'm the same real person here than in real life. I've met a few people in person from past associations online, and they were all just as they seemed online and I hope they found me the same. I haven't changed much since I went online in 1995, other than maybe having a slightly thicker skin LOL!
No, I didn't have enough sense to get a better username when I joined. I'm a live real person when I'm here.
My user name reflects my career and, broadly, something that I think is really important! Science (and by extension, critical thinking).
I am just me.. here or in real life. Take it or leave it I dont pretend.
pretty much the same
What you see is what everyone gets
(outside of the work place of course)
I have an open mind, but if anyone doesn't like my demeanor
F**K off :) :D
my personality on ab is the same with as real who am i in my real life...
I'm me. It would be way too complicated to try and keep up with 2 personalities. So what I write here is all me.
Pretty close to the same.
I may be a bit quicker to "yelling" in real life than here. ;-)
Good question --the same
The same. I wouldn't want to be anyone but myself.

It's about the same I have a sense of humor but in real life people may not find humor depending upon the situation,I don't know about my evil twin you'll have to ask him.:)
I don't think I'm really different, but I do talk a lot more on here. But that IS what it's for, so...
I'm the same, It takes a lot to get under my skin..trust me, my kids try every day it's like their on a mission to try and make me snap lol. I don't treat people bad or make fun..Cause I wouldn't like if someone was like that with me
This is my personality without the mask. excellent question +4
It my multiple personalities.
I have multiple personalities on AB, one of which is the real me.
This is me- not similar to me but the true me. I really don't have an evil twin just plain mutt good/evil mixed in.
I am the same everywhere, off-line, online, in person. I no longer feel the need to present more than one face to the people I encounter. My feeling on this is: "This is who I am. If you don't like who I am, you are free to hang with someone else."
nah.. im just my self...
Yes, i am a real person..and i am the same person on here as in my own life..:)
Well, Its just my first name for the most part. I see alot of names on AB, AIM, AOL, Myspace and other sites that are extremely fake. Any name with the words hot, sexy, xtreme, crazy, psycho, evil, devil, wicked, Milf, XXX, gansta, playa etc are almost certainly used by people trying to create a fake persona for themselves. Alot of these people are in chatrooms almost all the time wich means that during the day they are in front of a computer and not in real life doing those things that make them so "crazy","sexy", or "awesome" and their screenname or username suggest. These people are usually huge douchebags in chatrooms and try to piss people off, condescend them, threaten them. I count ho many times these idiots have tried to make themselves look tough or hard by threatening me or acting like they are superior then me. Are these people actually this tough in real life? I think not. Go in front of somebody in real life and say what these people say in chatrooms, blogs, AB and Yahoo answers and Im pretty sure you will soon find yourself in an emergency room.
Honestly... I can't see my name actually making anyone like me for any reason!
It is a bit rude and contradictory actually.
That's me right there. Avatar and all. I have no interest in being another person, as I am already f***ing awesome.
It's me.. For better or worse unfortunately! Of course, I don't get the chance to show the true and complete me on Answerbag, but what you see, is a big part of me.
The avatar is just a pic from the net. However I truly am One Twisted Child :)
The personality is about the same, although this is my second life and I can make changes. +4
No and no. I'm not real but according to accepted standards I'm considered alive. I do not like humans in general or in most cases in person.
What you see you got.
I'm the same way that i am here except i'm a bit shy in person.
I don[t think I'm smart enough to figure out how to do that. What you see is what you get.
Umm..
Everyone will answer the first one, since if there's not a real person there, no one can answer.
Does not compute.... does not compute..... internal logic error.......... rebooting...... executing physical memory dump................ *fizzles out*
You caught me.
Ed is my real name.
I don't own a jetpack :-(
I've been a headbanger since I went to an AC/DC show in Long Island, NY, October of 1980.
It represents my profession and my passion.
I'm all me. Bakebyday. A real person behind the avatar. Either you like me or you don't.
Yes, I am a real live genuine human-being. I am not here for people to like me. I am here to answer/ask questions and hopefully learn a thing or two in the process. Give me lots of +/-, love me or hate me...it really doesn't matter.
Well I thought of naming myself "subatomic cheese pony" but I wouldn't know how to live up to that fake persona, so I just went with my initials.
No i'm much nicer here or is that there?
i forget -^
oh well Happy Tuesday anyway

My real life personality is better looking.
Even if I say I am, who's going to verify it.
I have to say though, if I'm not real I've created quite a rubbish new persona. Who just goes on about exams and complains about things.
I notice lies all the time, though. Little things. About age. About pictures which clearly aren't them. About all sorts. Which means I don't really trust anyone. I don't have any reason to trust anyone. This is a website. And most of the people on it are rather far away from me. It's when people start believing the lies and getting far too involved, that they get hurt. And I'm in the habit of getting hurt in the real world, falling off things and the like.
the same!
You'd have to ask someone who knows me both on here and off the site to know for absolute sure. I think that there are many ways that I am different, but there also many ways I'm similar in the way I present myself on here and in real life.
I am the same :)
Has answerbag helped your curiosity?

Maybe those who are happy at AB have found what they were looking for so they're content. Are the unhappy ones still searching? For what?
