  • Well...the Taliban has no atheists. What's their world like? Link to watch the PBS documentary, "Return of the Taliban" http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/taliban/view/main.html
  • life is filled with all sorts of crazyness, what would life be without pudding? I guess there might not be much doubt about the realm of the "sacred" or "profane"... which makes me dubious about his question..hmmmm
  • Not much different than it does today.
  • Just moar Jesus.
  • even more screwed up than it is now .. the lack of logic would be devastating
  • science would probably take 100 steps back
  • Christians wouldn't burn books
  • It would be like the matrix.
  • People would be affiliates of an specified religion, yet skepticism is the inevitable , possibly resulting into another alliance to disregard the enforcement of god's presence.
  • Imagine life for the common man, in North Korea.
  • Well, look at it this way: If I refuse to believe in something(in this case a theistic, omnipotent, god) because there is absolutely no actual evidence to support it, does that make me a bad person for using some logic and having some faith in myself? Could you imagine an entire world of people who refused to think in a manner that was grounded in reality? Or take for example a single country that has a vibe of religious extremism present, like many of those in the middle east. Many injustices take place there even to this day. Think of a single court room using superstition and fear tactics, rather than debate and evidence.... think of some other subjects that are important to you, but instead of people helping you with you're problem by getting busy and putting all those hands to work... they simply claps them together, pray, and wish you the best. I sometimes think back to the Salem Witch trails, or the witch hunting era which lasted 100'of years... would YOU like to be mistaken for a witch? That would be nice... you...screaming in agony... while others soak in their spiritual opium, ignorantly thinking they are doing the work of god, yelling non-sense like "CURSED THIS ONE BE, BURN YOUNG DEVIL BURN!!!" Oh yeah.. this was reality for a lot of innocent people for a good while. be burned to death for no reason... When we let irrational thinking become rational in our heads it leads to extremely dangerous situations. And all religions are too blame and are religions are the same. All of them force you to blindly believe in a "book", a fictional book, and the only reason you go for for it full heartedly, is because everyone else ALSO believes in said book. It's so absurd. Most people are religious because their parents brought them up that way. Many stay down that path while others hit the "age of reason". I think as long as you do good things for the right reasons, NOT for a reward or fear of punishment, then I don't care what religion, race, or creed you belong to. In conclusion, Atheism isn't a philosophy or ideology, rather... it's a subject, or a category...its actually a category for a "lack of a belief"...[weird] [as if we would ever give a name for a specific category for people who do or don't believe in Santa Clause, lol.] Any how, saying Atheism is a religion is like saying bald is a hair color. Also, It is highly unlikely that a person would be willing to kill them self in the name of or the benefit of the category of atheism.
  • Every bit as bad as it is now, if not worse.
  • Considering the small percentage of atheists in the world, I would have to say very little or no impact, at least for me.
  • I've thought about what it would be like without religion, and as an athiest I think it would actually be worse. However, I've never thought about a world without athiests. I don't think it would change much because most athiests(THAT I KNOW), myself included, are more accepting of other people and don't bother others or preach their ways. Also, given the diversity of world religions I don't think there would be much impact anywhere.
  • I'm sure the world would be much the same as it is now. I know of many Christians whose behavior completely belies their claimed belief in God.
  • The same. The world doesn't change much based on lack of spiritual belief. Only hardcore religion has an impact on the world as far as I can tell.
  • such silly notions. Consider the following: "History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose." Thomas Jefferson - to Baron von Humboldt, 1813 That should answer your question.
  • The book 1984 by George Orwell comes to my mind for some reason.
  • Violence and bloodshed.....every day every year. No forward movement, a society where no one is wrong and no one is right, no one has one positive, free original thought, all women are subservient, all womens clinics are blown up without a thought to the other women who merely go there for GYN exams, in other words Hell on Earth, just how the religios want it. Its scary how religious people are the only ones earth that look forward to persecution, armageddon, being made to choose or die; buncha delusional, masochistic sick fucks.
  • Imagine a world where superstition, extremism, stupidity and voodoo reign supreme. Yeah, it'd be The Dark Ages all over again
  • It would be like the Middle Ages.
  • Look at places where atheism is repressed, or not allowed. Those places tend to be theocracies that are not very nice to live in. I think atheism and secularism play important parts in our society.
  • Much like the 50's I would think.
  • Much better place and one day it will be.
  • A superstitions, demon haunted world with more wars and local violent squabbles; less rational thought; much less science - perhaps back to the middle ages; heretic / witch hunts... And amusingly enough, far less religious tolerance. +5
  • Dull, very, very dull not to mention how ignorance would run amok without the checks and reason that Atheists provide
  • Boring, because as much as some people dont want to admit it many atheists make people think, and provide alot more questions, and some decent guesses in a logical way than people who strictly follow a book aka the bible. and people who do not admit that some things that an atheist says could be true is blinded they their own ignorance.
  • Well, everyone would be saved, so then you'd have Religious wars claiming millions of lives due to "You're not holy! WE ARE and if you don't join with us WE'LL KILL YOU!!" So yeah, the atheists give the "Saved" something to do! SO we REALLY need then around! I got some things you might wanna read while pondering your reply...(JW's are great for this at bus stops, but they lie in regards to the bus coming)
  • I would see no difference because I say and do what I believe, no matter what a person with NO beliefs tells me. I pay no mind to them, they have their NO beliefs and I respect that I hate it when they try to tell me that they are right and Im not. Thats when they irritate me. When they do that, that shows how immature they are.
  • Miracles would occur on demand thru sheer power of belief.
  • The real question is what would the world be like without theists? The answer is a much better place. Please see this reference to the book "God is Not Great" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_is_not_Great. The book explains how the belief in God and religion causes violence, war bigotry, and hate.
  • The crusades lol?
  • Same old shit.
  • Would be a little better. Atheists have the tendency to belittle anyone else for their beliefs ( more so than any other group). I think the world would be better without them, so those of us with faith aren't bashed on a regular basis by them. It is fine to believe in something, or a lack of something. When you start basing that around trying to make others feel stupid, or constantly trying to convince others they are wrong and you are right, then you need to go.
