you know, I'm a Christian and I've always had that same fear. Living as a Christian does not scare me; Heaven does. Everything we love is supposed to be there and my husband is not a Christian so does that mean that I will forget about him when I die or just not care that he's not there with me? Good Question +3

I really love Elizabeth Sherrill's All the Way to Heaven for that reason. Her take on it is that heaven is like a big gift-wrapped Christmas present and that God is like a parent watching their child shake it and try to figure out what is inside. He isn't going to tell us until we get there, but He delights in our curiosity and anticipation. She also says that in God's economy, He doesn't spend a lot of time training us for something He isn't going to have us use. She believes we will continue to have useful work in heaven, just without pain and death and oppression and sin. I've read a few writers who have postulated that Heaven will be what this world was meant to be before it was tainted by sin, evil and death. That would be just fine by me. But I think whatever it is like when we get there, it will be wonderful. A God that created sun tinged clouds, rainbows, snowcapped peaks, mountain streams, beaches and surf, duck-billed platypuses, crackling fires and kittens is pretty good at creating wonderful surprises. So I think this one will be pretty good too.
