I do want a solid answer- but I hardly ever appreciate the honest truth until later.

Yes, I like the honest truth. Like if someone tells me I'm bossy, I appreciate that and I work to fix that. It helps to get honest advice from your peers.

If I ask a question, yes I want to know the truth. Why would I want somebody to lie to me? Even if the truth is difficult to hear or believe, it is always best to know the truth than to be deceived or not know exactly what is going on in my life anyhow. When I ask a question I want the most honest and accurate answer I can get. I also tell anyone who asks me a question the same thing.

Of course, why else ask it. That does not mean that I want a rude or crude answer.

I would rather get into a verbal brawl over the truth than just lie back and be all nice-nice and tell someone what I think they want to hear. When I ask a question, I not only expect but I deserve straight-forward, no holds barred responses.

Absolutely, no matter how brutal, and I answer with the same respect, don't ask me if you don't want the truth, and likewise, I don't ask either without expecting the God's honest truth.

Yes I do what is the point of wasting my time asking for a lie. I try to answer honestly although it is not always appreciated. I expect the same courtesy

I'd value someone who could give me the honest truth. I once had a professor write on a paper I turned in "Thats bullshit and you know it."

It's like advice. Depending on the kind of people we are, we go to particular people with particular problems. We also only ask particular people particular questions. Unless we're desparate for an opinion and there's only a random stranger present to whom we've said nothing and about whom we've made no assumptions (in terms of which way they'll swing with their answer). We ask questions for alot of reasons - to seek truth, to receive confirmation, to feel as though we're part of something, to exist. Okay, so that's getting kinda deep as far as this question goes but that's how we work as people. Me personally, it depends on the question, it depends on the person I'm asking and it depends on the response I want. If it's really important and I want to learn, I want the truth, if it's really important and I want support, I only care about an answer that echoes my feelings.

Yeah - the truth please. I often feel that communication is superficial & people don't really reveal their true feelings. So please open up & tell me the truth, and let's get to deeper levels of existence.

Depends on who I ask. My friend jeff, he gives it to me straight. When I need the cold hard truth, i ask him. I feel confident that my friend Drew will tell me something thats honest, but kind. When I ask my friend J.. I feel confident that he will lie his butt off to comfort me. Which sometimes you need. After a breakup, I dont need an I told you so, even though I deserve one. I need a "He's a loser, its his fault"... hehehe...

Yes, will the truthful answer please step forward? I wouldn't ask if I didn't want to know the truth. I have always established true friendships based on this kind of exchange. I don't want to be lied to.

Yes, but if it's an answer I won't like, it would be nice if the answer was tempered somewhat to ease the blow. Even though we profess that we want honest answers, we are always secretly hoping for the answer we want.
