This is a very interesting question. When I look back 1000 years to see what music was like, I see the function of music was wrapped up in Greek mythology. We have come a long way. I expect future generations will look at us to try to learn how music fit in our society. They will have to study the evolution of music and see what music we were listening to in 2009. It's a conglomerate of world music. So we would have to go all around the world and find it's best musicians. For Western Civilizations, I expect most of the classical composers and top rock and rollers, jazz greats, pop artists, and folk musicians.

If you asked what groups will be remembered in "100 years", I'd say "The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, CSNY, and The Who." But looking ahead 1000 years, I predict that people, society, and music will have changed so much, that people will remember those bands as ancient relics -- if they remember them at all. http://www.vintagerockconcerttshirts.com
