Because it's not the fucking 1900s anymore.............I hope you're joking lol.
It wasn't until about 6 years or so ago that auto makers could no longer ignore that women were financially able to buy their own damn cars instead of being relegated to the lowly status of "co-signer" on their husband's purchase....even thought the car was for his wife. That's when the TV spots came on catering to women buyers.
It's no different for the entertainment business. Money is money, and if you ignore a large section of the public it cuts into your bottom dollar. We're not all "back of the bus" anymore. That's a GOOD thing.
I don't know about Black men or White men saving the earth, but Denzel is one hell of a good actor.
And very easy on the eyes!!!!!!!:)
It's just something new to keep the viewing publics interest and bring in the money. Also, more leading roles are offered to black men and women today compared to the past. So therefore, more are stepping up to becoming excellent actors/actresses and stepping into those roles. White, Black, Brown, Green, Blue, Purple, doesn't matter. When we stop looking at color of skin and start looking at the person, what they are, what they stand for, it will be better.
As opposed to all the movies about white guys saving the day?
Whites have role models - I think it's great that two good looking, wonderful role models are here for not only blacks, but anyone else too. I think Denzel and Will are great role models!
Who cares. Its Hollywood. Retelling old stories is what they do.
I can't wait till we get past what color anyone is.
its all relative gravytrain bandwaggon stuff

You're reading Denzel Washington is working on a post-apocalyptic movie, as did Will Smith in "I am Legend." Why do you think it's the time for movies about a black guy single-handedly saving the earth?

You don't think it could be Obama-inspired? Or a reaction to the calamities brought on by the ultimate white guys, Bush and Cheny?
by Kornflapper on May 28th, 2009
Uh...No....It's just one of those 'Summer blockbuster hits' and Denzel and Will are high profile celebrities/actors.....The series '24' had a black president before Obama was even elected, black people can act too lol. There's not always a hidden agenda when it comes to race.
