Fasting Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar that occurs after a person has not eaten for a long period while reactive hypoglycemia is low blood sugar that occurs within a few hours after a high carbohydrate meal. It is generally believed that reactive hypoglycemia is caused by the excessive secretion of insulin that follows a meal that is high in carbohydrates.
