I'm traveling to Australia from Scotland and I want to bring my external hard drive- is there a chance it will be checked by customs?

Although it does happen on occasion, it would be incredibly rare, and they would have to have their suspiscions for that to happen.

Usually you would just be asked to remove the lap top and hard drive from your bag to go through xray.

I would say that everyone would be checked by customs regardless if they had a hard drive or not. If that is all it is I doubt there will be any major problem.+5
