  • No, I've never seen that either Deb. I have seen people setting up scholarship funds for their children though. I think they could have phrased their request a little better ...
  • That is something I have never heard of before! I have frequently known requests for donations to charity, never to the family.. that is something which I would expect guests and friends of the deceased to orgaise amongst themselves as a gesture if they felt it appropriate. Unless, the family want to pass that money on to a charity? Which may be the case. For my uncle's funeral we had a second donation - the first to charity, and the second additional request was to fund a bench to put in his favourite place where his ashes were to be scattered. That request for donations was made only to close family though.
  • What is happening to manners? Tsk. I saw this question on the heels of another one that mentioned a couple who asked for donations to their honeymoon trip fund, AT their wedding reception. Classy. This falls into the same category, methinks.
  • This is becoming more common. It is a plea for money to help pay the funeral expenses. Obviously, the family lacks the necessary funds.
