My 88 yr old mother's Sony, single disc, CD player has finally died. CD player is connected to a Sony receiver or amp. and a pair of I bookshelf speakers. I want to repalce the CD player. She needs SIMPLE--one disc, few buttons. Do I get a DVD player?

You *could* but I wouldn't recommend it. DVD players have a lot of buttons, and most of them are unnecessary for audio playback.

I'm sure that if you shop around you could find an inexpensive, simple CD player for a rack system.
