  • Yes you shouldn't have given the key to your friend at the beginning.
  • Ok, accidents happen .... BUT; why did you give your keys to the friend to begin with .... ? The friend should have climbed the tree and retrived your key .....
  • No, but you are responsible. We learn from our mistakes and now you know to protect the keys better.
  • It's not your fault but it IS your responsibility.
  • Yes. Because you should be responsible for your keys and not give them to a friend stupid enough to throw it in a tree. Just keep your keys to yourself, and this incident should not repeat itself.
  • Your father is right. You are responsible for protecting your keys. If you have a friend that does things like spin keychains, it is your responsibility to not let that friend have access to your keys. Unless your friend stole your keys without your knowledge , there is nobody to blame but yourself.
  • Yes. Why did you give your friend your key chain in the first place?
  • Of course it's your fault you little munchkin. The sooner you start taking responsibly for your stuff the better off you will be.
  • If they'd been in your pocket, would they be lost?
  • ur dad just mad it aint ur fault its your friends for messing with your key chain
  • "Fault" actually means responsibility. So yes, it is your responsibility to take care of your keys, and if you let your friend goof around with them and they get lost, it is your responsibility to take care of it. Now you might want to go to your friend and say - "look, you were goofing around with my keys and lost them, now my Dad says I have to buy new ones out of my own money (or whatever), and since you were the one to lose them I want you to take responsibility too, and that is to find them or replace them for me" - well, you might want to do that. But that would be between your friend and you, and how he responded would depend on how responsible a friend you have (how well his Dad taught him to be responsible for items in his possession). It wouldnt let you off the hook, though. Just learn the lesson and dont let your friends goof around with your keys unless they are willing to be as responsible for what happens to them as you are.
  • All depends on how he got the keys.
