I think you are a good parent. I never got all the things I wanted as a child and I has helped me to understand that I cannot have everything I want when I want it as an adult. They obviously have stuff to entertain themselves with. And you could spend a ridiculous amount of cash just on games alone, in addition to the system. I am sure they will get over it. Good on you :)

Nothing wrong with not spoiling your child. Put them to work while your at it. You'd be doing a lot more good than my parents ever did for me. I can't even hold a job because I'm too lazy.

Of course you aren't a bad parent. You sound like a very responsible parent, if anything, and one that doesn't give in to whim's and fads. Game systems - when abused - can lead to less activity, increase in weight, and less desire to socialise with family members and friends. Plus, personally, I think that type of toy is more suited to a tween or a teen.

I think its ok to buy her a game, as long as you moderate the games she plays, and the time she spends on it. It should be a special thing, that she can play an hour a day. A lot of kids nowadays spend their free time on video games, to the point where they become addicted. E.g. WoW

No, you're definitely not.

you are the parent. you make the decision. at 6, she is far better off playing outside than on a game system...and the peer pressure will only get worse if you give in now....keep up the good work.
-
Oh please of course that doesn't make you a bad parent. Here is the thing about parenting, its not the same as being your child's friend.
-
Not at all. As a parent, it's up to you to decide what's best for YOUR child.

your a good parent. just cuz her friends have them doesnt mean she has to. she SHOULD play outside. and you have 2 comps that play games. theres no reason to buy one it'll be a waste of money and be bad for her inteligence.
