Why, when a young girl is kidnapped, do the media make it a point to say she is "pretty"? How does it help the search? Are they implying that a "pretty" girl deserves more attention than a "non-pretty" one?

Because when they say she's pretty, it pulls at peoples heart string more than if they didn't. If it bleeds it leads.

Yes they are. Just like if she was rich they would get right on it, but middle class and poor they would just put on the back burner and say the little tramp ran away. that is how the law works.
