  • No. Why would it be a myth, the evidence is all around us.
  • Not when you say 0 = 0 or 10 = 10, etc. However, when considering humans in their several societies and countries, Yes. Equality is a myth because you always have gender bias and politics with which to contend.
  • There is no true equality.People are selfish by nature and few look out for others. If there is a single person in the world starving, has no rights at all,or is not living a decent standard of living then there is no equality.
  • No. We're getting there. One day.
  • I *really* hate to 'tip my hand' on this one, what with my valuable AB reputation and all as a non-cynic, but I think it is. The sheer number & varieties of potential human experience as well as the universal phenomenon of prejudice precludes this ideal. Good question! ;-)
  • Not so much a myth as it is completely relative.
  • Only when EVEYONE is 'equal' in ALL respects can there be 'equality'.
  • no - its a work in progress. But since we are always changing and adding to the mix we will always work for it - besides, equal only exists in math. There will most likely never be true equality.
  • good question, indeed. For now most democraties achieved only an equality from the lawyiers' point of view. It may seem very few. In fact it's absolutely gorgeous. In order to appreciate, just think of roman times when a master could cut the throat of a slave or rape his daughter whithout any charge at all. Next step is harder to get. Not only because we are unable to do it but also because there are some disagreements regarding the aims of equality. Some of us say : All people are to be equal. Others say : you might just get the same amount as you give. Then, some remark that if you can get the same amount by doing nothing as those who work hard, nobody will never work had again. Others state that if you can hire a 5000 dollars a-day a lawyer and I can't, there is absolutely no equality to the law. So, as a conclusion, I would say it is much more a true debate than a myth.
  • I believe such a thing exists, however we humans are not able to reach such a thing due to our flaws.
