I believe that in true Communism, not what some idiotic guy called Communism that was its complete opposite, greed is entirely irrelevant because money doesn't exist. The problem with Communism is laziness.

Communism, true communism, not russian theft-ocracy, is the best possible government there is. No government, pure democracy. But it won't happen until we grow as a species.

Communism can never function at all BECAUSE of mankind's inherent greed. The genius of capitalism is that it harnesses man's inherent greed and channels it into things that have the potential to improve things for everyone. Temper that with a bit of social welfare-type intervention to even out the disparities that a capitalist system produces, and you're good to go.

Without greed, communism would work perfectly.There will never be people in power who aren't greedy in some way, unfortunately.

There is no need to state that you are not a communist quite so forcefully... it is not a dirty thing. I believe it may function very well. Inherent greed is what corrupts it and prevents it from working outside of the small community. So if that were removed then I believe it would stand a much better chance, certainly capitalism would probably be redundant since it feeds on our inherent greed =)

Human self-interest runs on a continuum from ambition and competitiveness to greed. Communism doesn't take into account people's drive to compete for more money, bigger promotions, and a better house/car. You can't completely get rid of human ambition because self-interest is, to some extent, a survival instinct. Though maybe you could teach people to achieve their goals through teamwork, and communism might be possible under those conditions.

i think communism is a great idea, in THEORY. the idea that all resources, properties and responsibilities be shared equally, is a wonderful one, again, in THEORY. but in actuality communism has never worked because "power corrupts and absolute power, corrupts absolutely". all communism has ever done is strip the common man of his voice/power/right to fight the corruption that communism inevitably leads to in it's leaders
