The person who asked for the date should pay, no matter what sex they are. That is, of course, unless the arragement was made for each to pay equally. The couple should take turns treating if at all possible. A gracious person would offer this after being treated to the first meal.

I'm a bit old school. I would want to pay for the dates. If it went on long term and she wanted to pitch in I would allow for it.
