Why are people afraid of death? Some think a better life comes after it, so why are these people still scared to die? I personally am not afraid of death, not since I was 7/8 years old.

Fear of the unknown. I, personally, am not afraid of death. I just don't want to suffer and linger. I hope when it happens I just go quickly.

Death is wonderful, it's the edning of all the problems and suffering that life has to offer. It's like floating in an ocean of darkness...just wait for the sweet, cold embrace of death...REFRESHING! :)

I believe the reason some people are afraid of death is because it is unknown, and a lot of people are afraid of the unknown. If we all knew what was to happen there would be a lot less fear in the world!!

well some are afraid of death cuz they arent sure what lies beyond death some are afraid that they might have no feeling yes there some that afraid of taht.like a really depress guy with heart with no emotions?hell actually burn himself with a cigerret to see if he gain feel something,its better to feel nothing,some area fraid because they believe it the end of there live and they never live again,some are afraid that they dont want to leave their family behind un doubtful taht they will keep the house running,but there are soem that dont fear cuz they have faith in a form taht believe they will go to heaven.but there a sad kinds where their arent afraid.the ones whos life is so miserable for any reason lack of faith problems,or just issues you can come up with they will believe theyll feel peace if they die

For me its like the dentist. I KNOW that AFTER I've been to the dentist life will be better, but its GOING THROUGH the dentist experience that aint so great:) The process of dieing, can, well, not always go "well". Thats the only thing that has me antsy about it, heh.

At my lowest point even when I wanted to die I was afraid that all the things that I was running from would be waiting on the other side just to say, ' I told you so', before throwing me into hell. People are afriad of death when they have been brainwashed into thinking that they are unworthy because they don't believe.

Yeah, it is kinda ironic that those who place a great value on the beneficence & desirability of an ecstatic impending 'life after death' will struggle to stay alive just like the rest of us! ;-)

I think many are more afraid of the actual dying....the WAY they will die...if it will be real painful.

Not all are afraid of death. Sometimes the process of dying can seem scary, if you think about some of the miserable ways that you could die. But actual death isn't scary. I don't see myself as the body I live in but rather a spirit that is using this body as a vehicle to experience this world. So I don't believe in death. My body will be miserable and die but I will not. I have viewed myself in this way, since I was very young.
