  • I dont believe they are specifically vegetarian. I have a friend who's Father and Stepmother are Seventh Day Adventists, and are vegetarian. Her father hasn't always been a vegetarian though, so I dont think its a requirement of the religion.
  • Not necessarily, although their denomination DOES encourage vegetarianism. Those who DO eat meat (animal flesh) only eat the flesh of animals the Bible regards as "clean". (See the link below) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus%2011;&version=50;
  • Some are and some are not, though they do say that it is best and they do follow the Mosaic food laws (or at least, the majority claim to follow them - I don't have access to all of them to know if this is true or not). I thought about being SDA once, but it wasn't for me. . .so I learned quite a bit about them.
  • I think alot of them are, but not all.
  • No, but I believe they keep kosher like the Jews do according to what was written in the Old Testament of the bible. I knew a Jamaican 7th Day Adventist & he was not allowed to eat pork.
  • not necessarily but they try to embrace vegetarianism. At my church they were sum arguments if we should serve meat. We also don't eat unclean foods: pork, seafood, etc. If u check the Bible in Exodus at the time when the animas came into the ark. The animals that came in seven by seven are clean, but the one's that came in 2 by 2 are unclean and we're not supposed to consume them. In addition, we are not supposed to touch pigs eith even though sum do, I guess they dopn't kno. Believe me,Im a Seventh day adventis.
  • You don't have to be a vegetarian as long as you stay away from unclean foods...but when I was a member of the SDA religion (yes I'm doomed to burn in hell now) you felt VERY out of place if you were NOT a vegetarian...it was one of those things where in order to fit in...you did it... I have no complaint with that though only b/c being a vegetarian IS healthier for you...However if you consider being a member of this religion it's FAR BETTER to be born in it then to join later in life...FAR BETTER to have kids born into it and to marry a man in it...if not...well, you'll never quite feel as though you belong and when they have sermons about public schools being horrible (which your kids attend) and Catholics being the ultimate BAD religion (the Pope is rumored to have the mark of the beast so that never bodes well for our catholic friends) then your going to end up feeling pretty crappy about your life and your dear catholic grandmother that will one day no doubt turn you over to satan.
  • As far as I know they are not. They only avoid sea animals and pigs. All other animals are the unlucky ones! (A seven day person is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong.)
  • Yes some are vegatarians, some are vegans, and some are meat eaters. I been a member of the seventh day adventist religion for three years now. They know the Bible and are good teachers of the Bible. I am hear because God put me here, not everyone belongs hear.
  • NOT ALL. IT IS ENCOURAGED.I AM AN SDA AND I EAT MEAT.YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO EAT CLEAN MEATS, IF YOU ARE NOT A VEGETARIAN.

  • Being a vegetarian is an alternative lifestyle for Seventh Day Adventists. Some of them are, some are not. They don't eat pig or seafood and only fish that have scales.
