Not only have I forgotten our anniversary, I have also forgotten her birthday and MY birthday. She is understanding because I literally have brain damage.

Yes I have. My wife and I were monogamously involved for almost 8 years before we got married. During that time I considered the date of our first date to be our anniversary. After we were married, I still thought of that date as our anniversary. However, she decided that our wedding date would be our anniversary, but we didn't discuss it. Consequently, I overlooked the new anniversary the first time, and she called me on it. I think she was mildly disappointed until I apologized and reminded her that I had never forgotten our previous anniversary date.

We both forgot it this year. Neither of us remembered until the next day.
