The gospel just means the story of Jesus. It is in the first four books of the New Testiment.

"Gospel," or in Greek, "Euvangelion" is "good news," and was sometimes used to announce liberation as a result of a military battle. In the New Testament, it is the life changing and liberating good news of Jesus and is sometimes associated with the message of "repentance" (life-change possibility) in response to the coming of God's Kingdom (the gracious reign of God in human lives and communities). Simply put, the gospel is the good news of God's love and salvation in Jesus Christ that is proclaimed and available to all.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ:Jesus died,rose again on the third day.Man is hopeless,we cannot fulfill God's Law perfectly.It took a perfect sinless sacrifice to satisfy God's Holiness.So God came as a man Jesus(John 1:1,14)and lived a sinnless life and layed His life down and bare the sins of many(Isaiah 53:12).So they through the grace of God shall be saved.That penalty had to be payed for cause there was a sin debt.When God looks at the christian whom Jesus has saved He doesn't see the sinner He see's Jesus and we are made righteous through Christ.

The Kingdom of God is at hand. Jesus Christ has paid the price for our sins. The temple veil is ripped in half letting you and me and all mankind into the very presence of God. That is the good news.
