Try Febreeze. -
open up all of the windows, later light some candles that smell good.

i would think you could use some strong odor covering spray or burn some inscents.

If you put out a few saucers of white vinegar around your apartment within a day, the smell of smoke will be considerably diminished. The first day or two you will be able to smell a little vinegar in the air but then that disappears and you won't notice its there.

Clean *everything*. Rent a "steam cleaner" from a local store and clean all of the carpets. Wipe down all of the hard surfaces with an appropriate cleaner (e.g. Murphy's Oil Soap for wood, Windex for tile, counter tops, etc.) Clean the walls (and ceiling, if possible) with TSP substitute http://www.wmbarr.com/product.aspx?catid=103&prodid=220
