I often wondered if it might not offend some people, but I have never heard anyone say anything. I would advise just to be careful using such an expression around certain ethnic groups to whom it could cause hurt.

Yes because Nazis murdered a lot of people and caused many people to get killed needlessly in WWII. It would be like me calling someone a salad skinhead or a sandwich al-queada. Therefore many people find the word offensive because of the connotation it brings.

Nazi, like offensive racist words, belong in a class by themselves. Their use should be specific and purposeful. The sting of their meaning is to relevant to be treated lightly. Though, I did like that Seinfeld episode. If Seinfeld is jewish, that allows him some leeway that others may not enjoy. On the whole, folks throw out the names Hitler and Nazi is such a cavalier way, that it diminishes the true horror of this era.

Yes it is. Very offensive. Neo-nazis.

Only to the person you are calling a Nazi, and even then, maybe not if they see themselves that way.
