could always go with the classic berra 50 cal sniper rifle, assuming you want whatever animal explode

good package for your money. Savage Arms 16 FXP3 Rifle in .300 WSM or .270 WSM inexpensive, accurate and can take any game in North America.

30-06 will handle anything in North America and the ammo is cheaper than most others, hell there are guys in Canada who kill Grizzlies with the 30-30 Winchester. Either one is great...just remember you have to be able to hit what your shooting at where you want to hit it, other wise you'll be in the crowd arguing for a 460 Weatherby Mag to take down a ground hog. Look at Savage or Marlin, great for the money.

The first question might be to ask what you intend to hunt. If, for example, you wanted to hunt deer, and only deer, you would not "need" something like a 30/06. The cartridge is excellent and certainly will kill deer but it is also capable of killing much larger game, and the recoil and noise is greater than other cartridges. Something like a 30/30 in a Winchester or Marlin lever action might be nice. Or perhaps a bolt action .243 or .280 or .300 Savage. The very best approach would be to talk with some experienced hunters who hunt whatever it is you would be hunting. Or, go to a rifle range and ask some questions. And read some books. Get the latest copy of The Gun Digest (an annual publication), join the NRA and read their articles. There are many excellent hunting cartridges and rifles made in the USA. Enjoy.
