    Yes, start with some bunched up newspaper under some dry, fine chopped kindling, and then apply some heavier kindling. Try to light the paper from several sides, to insure a good start.

    Yes, build a small pile of kindling over a few pages from the newspaper; then make sure the flue is wide open. Strike a match and enjoy!
