Embezzlement: is nothing to do with democracy. An MP's job is politics: the way one gains financially: needs a character analysis.. I have little faith in people choosing to do the right thing.

I am not lost my faith in democracy, but I have lost my illusions. Already a long time ago. "the revelations highlight two key flaws in the system. First, the rules are often lax, or ambiguous, or plagued by loopholes. These enable MPs to submit claims that violate the spirit of the rules, even if though they appear to conform with the wording of the Green Book. Second, the rules are "enforced" by Commons officials in the finance department who have little authority over MPs. They have the right to reject claims, but – like all Commons staff – they view themselves as servants of the house and they are reluctant to challenge assertions made by "honourable members". Once the finance department agrees to pay a claim, an MP is then in a position to say that it must be legitimate because it has been approved by the Commons authorities. As the Daily Telegraph puts it, the result is that many MPs have submitted claims that, while technically legitimate, "go beyond what members of the public would find acceptable"." Very well put - This didn't make me lose faith in democracy. I lost faith in Britain's crappy attempt at democracy as soon as I learned what the concept of democracy actually meant. This is just another thing to add to the pile of rubbish our government is responsible for. I really think I should become a PM. Vote for Jadey!

No, but I've lost a bit of my faith in people... Coz MPs are just people, and I bet you a lot of the people who are crying and grumbling about it now would have done the same thing. Obv what we need is reform, but also for certain newspapers to SHUT UP, coz they are starting to make people lose faith.
