What is the purpose of circumcision? I know they remove some sort of extra flap of skin and it looks disgusting, but if they never removed it would it still function properly?

I believe it was started as what was believed to be a sanitary pratice that sorta of kinda became a custom and many are not sure of why anymore. Second question is yes - it is not done world wide but yet those places still seem to gain population somehow.+5

I haven't been circumsised. In England, it's not all that common. There is no real reason to do it. Sometimes it's done for religeous reasons, and some people say it's more hygenic, but there's no real proof of that.

yes it would still "function" proplerly. a weiner isnt made to be circumsised, thats why everyone starts out uncircumsised. in my opinion, the only situation which you should be circumsised is when you have an infection. but to answer you question, most people in the USA get circumsised because it looks "cleaner" and takes less managment to keep the weiner healthy

circumcision is performed for cleanliness. the skin is pulled up and snipped off at the end. without a circumcision it's kind of like a turtle in it's shell. when the skin is not removed it is more of a job to keep the turtle clean of sweat, debris, moisture, and cheese (smegma)

I've heard to prevent infection and even to stop masturbation. I was circumcised after birth, wasn't my decision and I do certainly wish I was kept intact. Yes it still would function.

one can get along well with one's foreskin attached. when it is missing, it is an indication that one is naked if one can see the glans of the penis. with foreskin, that area is covered, and then one is not considered naked even without clothing.

Supposedly. . .removing the foreskin lowers the risk of "penal" cancer and it most certainly is easier for the guy to be cleaner!

1) Over-thrusting during dry sex andmastubation can make the foreskin tear. 2) Diseases like herpes that only live on the foreskin have 5 times as much area to infect and thereby pass on the disease to others. (this is the reason for a modern society to adopt the practice and just call it "hygenic purposes") 3) What some people call "dick cheese" can form in the folds. This is the hygeine element. 4) It started as ritual, but probably caught on because guys that were circumcised did receive more oral sex. (can any women elaborate if this is better or worse?)
