  • Well, I'm sure she enjoys the publicity
  • If you put yourself in the public eye, you're opening yourself up to criticism, period.
  • Mean spirited.
  • Justified. I've heard people say that it's mean to criticise her, because everyone has the right to their opinion, but, uh, criticising someone's opinion is NOT taking away their right to express it, it is criticising it. Plus, she's not just expressing her opinion about gay people, she's imposing it on them by supporting efforts to stop gay marriage etc, and that's just plain dickery, never mind her PERSONAL opinions.
  • Well I mean people are allowed to voice their opinions, just as she did. As for the nude photos, she posed for them at one time so she shouldn't really be offended.
  • i thought it was silly to see so many people freaking out over her saying something that about 60% of america agrees with. she is entitled to her opinions, even if they're wrong. now it's getting ridiculous & they should just leave her alone. i don't agree with her & i think she's wrong, but i'm not going to ostracize her for weeks like perez hilton is doing. that makes me just as ignorant as her. it started out slightly justified but now it's just mean.
  • i think it started out slightly justified but now it's just mean.
  • I think the conservative media (is there any?) and pundits would be much more respectful of her opinion if she ENDORSED gay marriage than the liberal media and pundits are with her opinion AGAINST gay marriage.
  • She said her opinion and everything got blown out of proportion. Ridiculous..
  • That response is a great example of molded these contestants are. It's is sad there was nothing in her demeanor to show that anything she said was an original thought from her own being.
  • I think that she is being attacked because she can vote to make things her way. That is if enough people agree. In Cali enough people agree with her. That is how America works. If you don't like what is going on change it! I do think people should leave her alone. I also agree with her. She was asked how SHE feels. She answered how SHE feels! She has that right! I want to know where in the hell is the "womens rights" people now?
  • I think that the woman was entitled to state her opinion and the public was entitled to voice its reactions to that opinion, whether pro or con. That's one thing. But then she turned into a sour-grapes loser, claiming that the reason she lost the Miss USA contest was because of her statements when, clearly, she was not the better pick. To add insult to injury she then returns to California and the first thing she does is headline five church services where she lied (in church and in front of the media) saying that pageant officials had told her that she had to apologize for her statements and avoid discussing religion or her faith. Now her title is in jeopardy because she lied about her partially nude photos. That's on her. It cost Vanessa Williams her Miss USA title and this woman should be treated no differently than any other. She and her fans will blame it on the same-sex marriage controversy of course. The fact of the matter is that even though she was entitled to state her views on the issue, she is also the one who bears responsibility for keeping her name in the media and stoking the fires of publicity.
  • I'm sure she's loving every minute of it.
  • She refused to be politically correct,,,I respect that,I know that marriage is between a man and a woman and I am proud to stand my ground, If gays want to marry then come up with your own term.
  • Justified. If I didn't want to hear boos and criticism, I wouldn't have been as honest as she was. No one forced her to say something controversial.
  • I find it very interesting that the people that label themselves as liberal and tollerant, turn out to be the most INtollerant of all people. If you don't agree with them, they silence you with their boos or worse and punish you with words and far worse. Why are you so afraid of what she said? She was asked about her opinion and she had the courage, in the face of a hostile crowd, to voice her opinion. Like her answer or not, she has the same right that all of us have, at least for now. It's only my opinion, but I think it was a total set-up by the questioner. He knew she was from CA. He also knew that their courts are trying to overturn what was clearly a fair and valid vote on this issue not long ago. Everyone also clearly knows he is openly gay and in H.Wood, one can never get enough public face time. He knew his question would garner a lot of attention & he is the one who seems to be loving it. But, I digress. The point here is, she should never have been ridiculed and singled out because of her answer. Learn to be more tollerant and accepting of other's views. It's possible that you could even get a new perspective on a problem or up-hold your own belief in tollerence.
  • Justified. Before spouting the "morals" of a book at others, you better follow them yourself.
  • What attacks? Who forced her to pose topless?
  • The funny thing about free speech is that it works both ways. Sure, you can say whatever you want and state your opinions no matter how controversial they are, but you should never expect for them to go uncontested. Other people are free to disagree with you, and strongly too. They are also free to simply insult you for your opinions, and there is nothing you can do to stop them. I do think it's cool that she went ahead and said that (even though saying I "disagree" is not strong enough to describe how wrong I think she is), because I think it shows her conviction. But if she or anyone else is surprised by the reaction, then fuck 'em.
  • She lied on her pageant application, she stumbled on her question, she posed topless in clear violation of her contract, she has not fulfilled her contractual obligations and has made appearances that violate her contract. She is making these choices and she is responsible. Pretty damned sad so many people are buying the "oh poor good Christian me attacked by the liberal media" dog and pony show. She is no victim. She keeps up this crap to extend her fifteen minutes of fame and to fatten her bank account. Make no mistake...she loves these so called "attacks" because they keep her in the news. In the end she is a stupid greedy cow who is making what she can in the meat market. I wish she would go away.
  • If you honestly deem someone stupid, then you should also deem them not worth the time & effort to make fun of.
  • I think that people should be entitled to voice their opininion, however, in my opininion she tried to portray this snow white image and she had a skeleton in her cupboard (the nude pictures) and the same media that will support a celebrity will tear them apart without a second thought. She claimed that as a Christian she did not support gay marriage which is fair enough, however, she lied. The contract which all contestants are required to sign contains a clause asking whether or not the participant has ever been photographed nude or partially nude she signed it stating no which was a lie, she claims to be a Christian but will lie to get something that she wants and in my opininion that is double standards and is exactly the kind of thing that the media and the public will pick up on and hound the living daylights out of a person. Also should someone who claims to be a Christian be taking nude photographs of themselves, I don't want to judge her but I think that she is her own worst enemy and instead of going around making matters worse for herself I feel that she should take some time out and do some reflection.
