Do miniature donkeys make good companions with horses? I have 2 horses right now, but we might be selling one soon. I know horses are herd animals so i don't want him to be lonley.

They get along pretty well. If they get along TOO well, you'll be able to add some mules to the mix.

The traditional companion for a lonely horse is a goat. It also isn't hard to find an elderly horse that needs a place to be in order to provide a companion. Horses and donkeys can get along, but you need to be cautious at first. Horses are often afraid of donkeys the first time they see one. You also need to make sure that it is gelded if it is a jack. If your horse is a mare, you may end up with a mule (where there is a will, there is a way). If your horse is a gelding or colt, an ungelded jack will fight with him.
