a scam.

It's a scam. Even if the check clears, after a short while, the bank will find it's fake, and charge YOU for the money you've taken out of the account. See http://www.orangefrogproductions.com/ofp2s_scams_lottery_home.shtml for examples of some lottery scams (mostly foreign, but they work the same), and check out http://www.orangefrogproductions.com/ofp2s_scams_home.shtml for other possible email scams. If you did not sign up for it, it's probably spam, and it's probably a scam. BTW: With all the money I've "won" in lotteries I've never entered, I've inherited from people I've never heard of, I've been offered to give the majority to charity, I've been offered to help someone get out of another country, I've been offered in a "shady-sounding" business transaction, etc., I could probably pay off the US national debt, and have plenty left over to by a few private islands. ;-)

Well it must be, otherwise why wouldnt the author of the letter claim it himself. If you have not brought a ticket for that specific lottery, then it is certainly phoney.

Sorry mate: No free lunches.
