Are you willing to settle for a "civil union" if provides all equal marriage rights and benefits?

    As Her Majesty, we wish all our loyal subjects equality.

    But let's be sure we are understood. We believe that some will always be more royal than others.

  • Sure, as long as everyone else is. You cannot have two terms for the same thing - that sets up a status of "separate but equal," which we know from history is always separate and never equal.

    Either we call the legal status given by the state "civil unions" for everyone, and call the optional religious ceremony "marriage" [for those who choose it], or we call the legal status "marriage" for everyone. Either way is fine by me, as long as ALL citizens have access to the same rights.
