I know nothing about webpage building. I have the html code for a counter. How do I add the counter to my AB profile page?

Most likely you wouldn't be able to get the counter to function. To make this kind of thing work usually means you'd need access to the "plumbing" behind the scenes on a website to enable the code to execute and store the hit count value somewhere, for example. You might be able to ask the AnswerBag support people whether it's possible, but I'd guess probably not.
