Yes, I do. It makes me feel old, remembering how they were once the norm.
-
No,i really like DVDs, no rewinding
-
I like them both - since I have both
-
Not really; VHS picture quality was terrible to begin with, and got way worse as your tapes aged. I do wish Comcast would let me transfer from my DVR to DVD, though.
-
Honestly no. I wish VHS tapes are biodegradable.
-
Sure....my tape player works and my DVD player doesn't!

Sometimes, as I would like to watch all those cartoons and things I watched when I was a kid. Like Squidely Diddely, The Bear and the Bean, old Tom and Jerry's and a vaguely remember a blind girl who had a doll, I think it was called Raggedy Ann.

Yes but only becuase then the 300+ VHS tapes sitting in my room would be worth more money on Ebay!!
-
The only reason I like DVDs is because my old Disney VHS tapes cost a fortune now. I could get over $500 on ebay for my Alice in Wonderland tape.

NO WAY. Note DVDs will probably be a thing of the past in a few years, with Blu-Ray / HD-DVD replacing them - but still able to read the old DVDs... Lets compare the two:- 1) Media costs. VHS tapes are way more expensive than blank DVDs. 2) Quality - VHS tapes record in muich lower quality so the picture is immedialtey poorer. DVD is digital... Then we have the long term quality. DVDs last. They dont snap easily unlike tapes and they dont degrade with time. 3) Power consumption - DVDs are requjire less power. Spinning a disk is much easier than a tape. 4 )Mechnaical failure. DVD players have much fewer mechanical parts. Mechanical parts fail much more frequeslty than electronic ones. 5) Cost - DVD players are much easier to manufacture - hence much cheaper to buy. 6) Film Costs. DVDs are given away free with many newspapers in the UK. Mass duplication of DVDs is fast, cheap and simple. Videos are much slower to manufacture, have more parts so are a lot more expensive to manufacture.... 7) You can make multiple copies of your home movies - on DVD, without losing quality. Not true of tape. 8) Storage space. DVD players are on the whole smaller than video players and the DVDs are smaller than video cases - so less room is used up in your living room to house them. 9)Extras - With DVDs you cna have subtitles switched on and off through the film. 10)Extras - Multiple language support - I have had foreign friends stayt and they have been able to watch my fiolms in their language. 11) Extras - Many DVDs come with the making of the film etc. Basically its a cheap add on to make on DVD. Not cheap to make for Video - hence it wasnt normally done. 12) Extras- Many DVDs have extras like a game... 13) Flexibility - You can watch DVDs notonly on your TV but on your computer as well. Or using your game consoles, PS2, XBOX... 14) Flexibility - a DVD player can also act as a CD player. I cant put music tapes into my video player. 15) Size - DVD players can easily be purchased ofr the car - screen included - videos are too big to do this practically. 16) Watching a film - Jumping to the section you want to see, or you were at before. You can jump chapters as well as fast forward much better with a DVD than a tape. 17) With a DVD recorder, most have time shift, so you start recording what you are watching pause it and continue to watch it whilst the rest of the film is being recorded. (rather than have to wait until the film ends to carry on watchnig it with a video. 18) Flexibility. Many TVs come with DVDs in built. I know some did with videos in built but not so many and they looked bulky. 19) Other uses. Many DVDs can play pictures from your digital camera. Even having a card reader in-built. You may be able to connect an onld style camera to a video recorder but normally required special leads... 20) Re-use. DVDs make good beer coasters or can be used to scare away the birds if you hang them up on scarecrows. 21) More Cat and child friendly. The big slot in a video recorder enables kids to put all sorts of things in them. They view it like a letter box. THe extra warmth generated often encouraged cats to sit on them - with many getting broken due to cat pee. 22) Flexibility. DVD media can be used ot record films. It can also be used to back up your computer. I remember using a video to back up data on my computer. It was poor quality, very slow and was fairly unique. I cant think of one area where a video tape recorder is better than a DVD recorder.
