Ak-47 is more efficient.

The husband says AK-47. The M-16 jams too much.

AK-47, you can abuse this weapons to a great extent and it will still fire, the M-16 requires constant maintaince especially in the field.

probably the AK mass produced, loosely put together, yet virtually indestructible plus it shoots any M16 ammo you may have lying around! i love me my M-16, though!

M16 jams often, useless weapon. AK47 not very accurate. So a R4 or R5 as assault rifle.

Ak because the M-16 does jam alot. Although the M-16 is a light and dynamic rifle, it does require more maintainence and is not as trustworthy in the field.

M-16 definitely. Not as much kick back as the AK-47, but just as powerful. Plus the M-16's have a cooling gas built with it so it won't catch on fire and to propel/shoot each round. AK-47's are built tougher though. But if you were in war, you could kill more enemies with the M-16 compared to the AK-47, because the AK-47 hops up with too much force so you're gunna be off aim WAYYY more than an M-16.

OK, 21 yr Marine vet here. The M-16 (A1 and A2) does not jam. The 7.62mm AK round WILL not work in a M-16's 5.56mm chamber. Niether weapon requires more or less maintenence. The M-16 and it's amunition are just less thatn half the weight of the AK. Combined with projectile velocity and impact energy, the M-16 is a better rifle.

M-16 for practical use, but i still like firing the AK-47 into water...

Having had the opportunity to fire both of these rifles (fortunately NOT in combat), I would prefer the M-16 A2 over the AK-47 (all variants). The M-16 malfunctions in the field by dirt or grime building up in the chamber preventing the round of ammunition from properly seating, or that same grime prevents extration of the fired casing leading to mis-feeds and doulbe feeds. This dirt and grime build-up is a function of environemnt but easily manageable (sand and mud probably being the worst). The AK-47 does not have this problem because there is extra clearance for the round in the chamber. This extra room allows the bullet to wiggle in the chamber leading to inaccuracy, a slight reduction in stopping power, and expansion of the spent casing that renders it nearly impossible to re-load; similar to the .303 Enfield. The gas system of the AK 47 is not tuned as well as the M16 also leading to recoil creep for full auto. The M16 A2 shoots the NATO 5.56 mm round, much lighter than the 7.62X39 round of the AK, so more ammo can be carried in field. However, good friends of mine found AK-47s that were lying in the sand for decades that fired without a jam after being dunked in deisel fuel... pretty impressive.

An AK-47 for untrained people; the weapon is simple to operate and unlikely to jam, but packs plenty of power. An M16/AR15/M4 for someone with time to invest in it; the range is 400 meters or so with practice but the gun is more complex to learn to clean and operate efficiently.

AK hands down. It's such a reliable and classic weapon.

AK for me. Sure its not as accurate but its extremely reliable and doesn't need the maintenance a M-16 does, i.e stripping of the parts and cleaning.

Sorry Guys & Gals.... AK47 hands down..! light, easy to operate, no jams, accurate and deady (comes with tracer rounds and armour piercing). Best comabt weapon ever. Personal experience...!

I've heard AK's are a very well made gun.

The AK47 for sheer reliability. Also for the fact that you can get ammunition and spares at most markets in most parts of the world.

For what, they will go right through you so what is the difference is it the distance are you looking for a sniper .wrong one for that one, you will need a rifle.303 will take you out .

M-16 for greater accuracy but still jams

M-16 hands down! My M-16 never jammed and I took it to hell and back twice! If you know how to shoot, the M-16 is you best bet. If you can only spray and pray then stick with your AK. If I can see you, I can hit you with the M-16 (iron sights). AK is very sloppy past 300M
