Intelligence is (slightly) more objective, and can be measured in various ways. The most famous way is IQ. Common sense is a slippery concept and usually varies greatly from person to person. One person's common sense is another's idiocy.

Intelligence is raw material - an ore if you will, a resource to be mined. Common sense is practical - applied knowledge acquired through observation and experience. I agree with DavidHume that common sense is largely in the eye of the beholder.

Intelligence is some thing you get from learing. Common sense is simples stuff your should just know. Example. Don't stick a fork in an electrical socket.

Common sense is having the presence of mind not to set your hand on the hot stove. Intelligence is the knowledge and understanding of WHY you shouldn't put your hand on the stove.

To me intelligence is based on book learning and memory. The ability to compile information and recall it. Common sense is the ability to adapt to any situation by accurately APPLYING what you have learned, either by book learning or by experience and the ability to see ahead the outcome, good or bad. This is also called WISDOM. Common sense requires being able to weigh all options based on probabilities and past experiences and be able to have a PROFITABLE outcome by the choice you make. I have found many who have book learning, or who specialize or who are focused in one area, often times do not have much common sense.

intelligence i sspecially acquired knowledge through one's effort and conscious application of mind .. whereas common sense is something very ordinary that we can predict as to what will be the consequence of an action and how we should goabout things in a smart , graceful and wise manner .. since a lot of things are not taught in books ...

I'd much rather have common sense than book knowledge. I've known very intelligent (book smart) people who didn't have the sense to come in out of the rain. I think common sense carries you much farther in life...not maybe in getting a big job that requires a degree but in everyday life
