Could you ask for a reduction in hours instead? If not, then just explain that you have enjoyed working there, but you are going to complete your education.

Be sure to give two weeks notice. That gives them enough time, theoretically, to line up a replacement. Offer to help in training your replacement if you can. If you do that, they shouldn't give you a bad reference, unless there are other issues you're not telling us about. Still, just a word of advice, I wouldn't quit your job until you have something else lined up. No guarantees in this economy. Also, is it at all possible that they could just cut back your hours at your current job?

2 weeks notice.

Can you just ask him to cut your hours?

I would like to inform you, that my devotion to be sincere here in the workplace is no longer capable, I am still limited to experience, to resolve this, I intend on being a student.
-
well I don't actually want to work there either anymore, I'm more like a person that likes to be around people and talk to them. I would just like to quit and find another job where I can be interacting with customers.
-
tell him the truth that you ar looking to improve your life thru education and what are my options to continue working for you?
-
I'd jsut quit and be done with it.
-
ask him to cut your hours first. if he says no, then quit and find something else. AND he cannot give you a bad reference, he has the option to refuse a reference or give one but it is required to be a positive reference!! What is the point of saying yes and giving a bad one (thats called being an jerk ass)
