You will not be able to keep that plan with the new SIM card. Aslo, since ATT has bought BellSouth who owns Cingular, the Heritage plan is no longer available anyway. You are going to have to buy a new phone, with a new SIM card.

There is a company called Rockwell LLC that sells never-been-opened ATT sim cards packaged just like the ones that came with your cell phone under the old ATT sevice for $5.00 each or 5 for $14.99 with no shipping charge. I bought one and it works. You have to activate it of course, and the folks at Cingular offer some skeptical resistance, but it works in my NEC 515 and Nokia 3595 (apparently all the phones that worked with the old ATT service). If your old phone breaks, these SIM cards are claimed to work with any unlocked GSM phone, but I'm still investigating the truth of that claim. Bottom line, Cingular wants you switch but if you do your research, you don't have to.

Won't be able to keep the same plan. Many f the old plans they want to phase out and that is the way they do it. Even the cingular is now att, you won't be able to get your old plan back because it is too good of a deal and they want to phas you in to another plan that generates more revenue for them. Sorry. Business works like that sometimes.

If you copy your SIM to one of the devices available (e.g. Clipper Gear SIM Saver Backup and Copy Unit for GSM Cell Phones - costs about $20) can you use one of the SIM cards mentioned above without having to beg the "new" AT&T to activate it. We have a great Family plan from the old AT&T wireless folks - 4 phones- that I want to try to keep.

You can buy a sim card on ebay. They are $10 with free shipping. What is there to lose if it doesn't work? I typed in "at&t sim card old"

We have the same problem - but buy used phones on EBAY and put the old sim cards in them - and they work.

Simple answer. its time for you to upgrade your whole cellphone system. go to a Cingular/ATT store and give them your old cellphone. chances are, they will give you a new cellphone. they will let you keep your current plan, except with a new cellphone.
