Well man it seems you are totally in the friend zone due to most likely just the type of personality you have and how you portray yourself to this girl. There are many reasons why she wouldn't possibly date you but for that matter it isn't very important. You seem like a genuine guy in that you really care about this girl, enough that you still are crazy about her. I'm guessing there really hasn't been much going on with other women besides her. If you actually are pretty close with her and do spend a lot of time what you need to do is meet a new girl and flirt with her and spend time with her. Any time you talk to your girl you like now bring up the other girl's name and act really excited and happy about it. Release from the girl you like and move towards the other one. If the girl really does like you she will get very jealous and you should be able to tell. If so make it so you play with her mind where she thinks she can't have you and you are totally moved on, and in retrospect you might actually because you could potentially fall for this other girl. But when the time is right you gotta move in on the other girl you like atm and basically sweep her off her feet. Do this by being a hardass man. You gotta go in for the move and be sexy. A lot of times guys are really good guys, they just can't arouse the girl where she is physically attracted to them and this is a must. GOOD LUCK :)

my friend ive been through exactly what ur going through just be lucky she still talks to you in my case she doesnt talk to me anymore she is afraid to do into anything further than friends with you imagine you go out and things dont work out its harder than you think to just act like you used to before you went out things can get weird and boom your friendship is dead or severely crippled she loves u so much as a friend that she wants to keep wat u have as friends ur friendship must mean alot to her am i right? and ur heart will hurt... and it will continue to hurt while she is around the more you see her and talk to her and get closer to her, (b/c you guys are best friends,) it might get stronger feelings and this can be true for both of you in the end she may start to like you so much maybe maybe she'll want to give it a shot because she cant control it anymore my advice... be patient continue to be there for her and be her bff she'll see your worth it in the long run and that your are the right guy 4 her hope this helps... :)

You're asking more then she wants to give. The reality is she likes you as a friend, don’t ruin the relationship, you might lose her as a friend if you pursue the date. Get with it, she doesn’t want to date you.

She likes you thus keeps talking to you and she is just unable to realize her feelings for you. Tell her clearly about your views on this relationship. Try and show her how special you are for her. Show some authority. Then she will start thinking or else it will be too late for both of you.
