Mormonism does not promote polygamy. The church's official position is that it is against polygamy.

I do not believe that the Regular Mormons have more than one wife anymore. There is a breakaway sect which is not recognised by the Real Latter Day Saints that does have polygamy.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not promote polygamy, so your question is based on a false premise. Furthermore, Joseph received the revelation commanding him to practice polygamy YEARS before he took his first plural wife. If his sexual drive was the motivation for introducing this law, then he would have taken a polygamous wife much sooner.
