  • I would constitutionally not be able to take it, as I am not a U.S. citizen.
  • No thankyou. I can upset enough people in my own little world without having most of the rest of the world hate me for everything I said or did or even thought of doing. Whatever Idid half of the worlds population would hate me.
  • no - im not american and if i did take the job i wouldnt be able to go on public places coz ill get killed!
  • Three reasons why not. 1. I'm not a U.S. citizen. 2. I might get assasinated. 3. I don't want to be like George Bush.
  • I don't live in the U.S.A so i can't, but I wouldn't take it anyway there is a lot of responsibility and I would have to watch my back all the time since there are always people who dislike the president.
  • I would love to say I would take it and I would make the world a better place. At least I would sign up to Kyoto or its replacement re global warming. I am not a big fan of George Bush, but I am sure there are a lot of candidates out there who are far more intelligent and better suited to the role than me. It has to be one of the most difficult jobs in the world. And a little like "Mr Smith Goes to Washington", it doesnt matter how good you are... politics is a very hard game. You always have to watch your back. Of course the fact that I am English, means that unless the UK beocmes partof the USA or vice versa, which neither seem very likely, then I dont think I will ever be eligible. What a sad loss for you Americans lol. To be serious, I think you will be able to survive easily with out me.
  • Yes, I'd take it to see how long I'd last if I decided to be totally honest, protect the environment, be transparent as possible in financial matters, champion the poor and weak, practice true democracy. I'm sure if I tried to operate by those principles I'd get the boot really quickly.
  • I guess I can't because I'm British, but I would take it if I could. I'd try and turn America into a force for peace, not agression like a certain Mr. Bush seems to be doing! If I was president I would: 1) Stop invading the Middle East, or anywhere else for that matter. 2) Go to the UN and appologise for George Bush's actions and beg for peace keepers to be sent to Iraq and Afganistan as it is total chaos and pretty much civil war. 3) Start sorting out climate change. Not some half measure like is happening now, but a real effort. 4) Go back to "all men are free and equal". In other words, a secular government. Which means it shouldn't matter if you are male, female, homosexual, heterosexual, religious, atheist, old, young, disabled or anything else. You should have the same choices and live free from discrimination in public areas and government. 5) Sperate the church and state totally. No more Ten Commandments in government buildings, no more religions backing politicions but still being accepted as charities. Freedom of religion and freedom from religion. 6) Reform the education system. Encourage young people to stay in education beyond the legal requirement. Find universities or other training. Keep science in the science class and religion in another class. 7) Fund stem cell research as much as possible, it holds so many possibilities for medicine. To be perectly honest, the world seems to hate America. I'm just pointing out the fact, don't blame me for it! Europe seems to view it as killing the environment and full of crazy fundementalists, many see it as agressive, Africa sees America sending missionaries when it could be sending more aid. I don't agree with all these points, but I'm just stating the feelings I've picked up from the public on this side of the Atlantic.
  • I don't want that job, but if I was offered it I would because it would put me in a position where I could make a big difference. I am not a U.S. citizen either, but this is all hypothetical.
