Help answer this question below.
Yes ... professionally for over 35+ years! This period of my life taught me very, very much about 'the human condition!' In this sense and form, there are no 'bad' characters per se, just people--usually unknown to them on a conscious level --who 'function' from very poor psychological or physical reasons. Indeed, actors 'act' BEHAVIORS' and do not perform through using 'just the words.' No professional actor would say, 'HEY! This guy is evil! I can't 'play' that!' They, in their Craft would search for not only the justification for this character's 'awful' behavior, but would also create balance with the characters 'soft sides.' This is accomplished with at least one moment [of the character's portrayer] of humanity and/or 'weakness.' EVERYONE has something 'good' in them, no kidding!
Makes for dynamic and 'identifiable' human beings and a better story for not just the actors involved, but for the overall audience experience!
As for the written word: for the most part scripts are thoughtfully and meticulously created by writers whether for stage, film, television or commercials.
One thing that makes performance art truly wonderful is that it relies completely on a cooperative environment. No one person is 'key.' All come together -- writer, director, producer, actor, stage hands, the theater itself AND the audience -- to generate a meaningful 'product' and experience!
My question to you would be, "Why did you post this question?" Are you desiring to get on stage yourself? Or, was posing your question just out of curiosity? I'd like to know ... really!
Yes, many times acting. A few other times playing with my high school jazz band
I used to play trumpet. I've played on the 50 yard line, on stage, and once played 'Taps' on CNN.
Many times!
I do public speaking about disabilities, real estate, trading options and a few other topics.
As far as "acting", "doing a comedy routine" or playing an instrument are concerned, I haven't done any of those in quite some time.
Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

Yes, that is my real last name!
Sources: Because you asked.

Absolutely!! :-)
Yes, I've done some theater. I've also done a little on-camera work and it's nothing compared to how great live theater is. With being on stage, you get the audiences' response right away and you can feed off the energy. What a rush!
Yes, it's been a while, but I've been thinking of returning to the stage. It's fun to pretend you are someone else.
Yes, I've performed on stage. I had a scholarship in Theatre and performed on Main Stage in many productions. I also performed as a vocalist.
Yep. My band toured the local area for quite a few years before breaking up. I almost miss those days...almost.
Yes, when I was a child. I loved it, but I didn't pursue it because I was too busy learning other life lessons, (which taught me in the long run to be a better person and I have no regrets about it)
In school, yes. I was in choir and was in a play. But out of school, what I have done is create background scenery and make costuming. That is where my true art lies.
Yes.
I took ballet when I was 7 or 8, and I performed with them.
I was in the drama club in high school, so I was on stage for 3 or 4 different plays.
I played the piano for years and had many recitals in which I played on stage.
I played in the school band from 5th grade (age 10) until I finished at the junior college (about age 22) and performed with concert, marching, and jazz bands many times a year. (The marching bands were not on stage, but the other two were)
I played in the orchestra pit for a local theater group - and was on stage once for that, but usually found myself under the stage in the pit.
I think that's about it.
Yeah. I'd hardly count it though. It was for a class and I only did a couple scenes.
I should probably refrain from acting is what I learned.

I have been performing on stage since I was twelve years old I am now 28...I am blessed to have been given the ability and the opportunity to do so. I grew up surrounded by artists in my family and it seemed only natural that I would gravitate towards it. performing on stage at such a young age gave me so much confidence and self esteem to move right through those akward teen years where you are so aware you are inside your skin in a breeze. this why I think the arts are so important in our communities. I don't believe that every person needs to perform on stage but I do think that every young person should be given the freedom to express themselves in whatever medium they choose whether its music, dance, theatre, visual arts, film, etc... we all have a story to tell and if we aren't telling our own stories then who will?
I toured with few bands, playing few different instruments.
Actually ive been on stage QUITE a few times...my first time on stage i was about 4 and my dad was singing in front of 5000 people and i got up on stage and sung the TMNT theme song! then when i was in 6th grade i played Robin Robin in Hansel & Gretel...ive also been in a few plays after that incuding a movie that i just finished called "Shakespears lost bluegrass As You Like It" a great story and i cant wait to see the finished film
Yes. I acted in plays in High School.
Yes, many times. i have been in band concerts, orchestra concerts, and musical solos. i have acted on stage in many plays as well.
I perform on the stage of life every day.
Many times. I was in drama clubs at school and University, and also was in a couple of bands. We did live gigs almost every week. Some big venues sometimes and a lot of pubs and club stuff.
Yes.
Two years have passed, and I'm still known as "Scrooge" at my old school.
Yah 19 times I've performed on the stage .Recently I played my piano for the national level championship and i got 23rd place.
I have sung in choirs and talent reviews, and I opened for a major artist (Lakeside) on an open air stage and I also acted on stage.
I roleplayed Domestic violence senarios for kids so that they would know a little bit what it was like.
I actually had women who where formerly abused start crying and telling me that my performance was spot on.
I was in a band for a long time, and we played a lot of shows.
The biggest one was in front of about 300 people with Yellowcard before they got huge.
Yes. Throughout school I sang in choirs and acted in plays. Later, I engaged in a debate, which was also performing because I was totally full of sh!t.
yes.. I'm currently in a performance titled My Fair Lady.. I am though only part of the chorus.. but i love being on stage..
yes, quite a few times actually. it is the best high ever.
I'm 41, and the closest I ever came to performing on stage was a few times in high school band, where I played sax, but I never soloed. Now I'd love a chance to try being in a play or something, but have no idea where I'd start, having no experience and being so old.
of course!im only 13 but have performed many times.theater is the best way to perform
yes many times
I used to be a leader of our campus theatre group
Yes, I'm an actress on tv and stage....wanna join?
Yes!! Did Stand Up for a couple of years and then
was a cast member with an improv comedy troupe for three years. Love it, miss it. Still spreading the laughter though.
no but if you insist in order to get such a performance, hire a gorilla to make sure there's nothing solid inside the tomatoes. And first, bring me the money in cash.
No, I never performed. But i know some acting school which is preparing their students to perform well on stage.
"Act Hollywood Theatre of Arts" Which is located in Hollywood city of California, USA.

Yes the point in Dublin

In my schools days!I got best actors award in one of the plays!!Great days!!!
i've been playing an instrument for 7 years, and now am a senior in high school. i am in 4 different ensembles, not including chamber groups and the like. my average number of concerts to perform in during the school year is... um... 5? and there are always 2 or 3 different ensembles per concert....... so, yeah.
yes :)
At every school band concert.
Sure, I was a flower in the 2nd grade school play.
Yes...I have beforeeee
Yes. I was Katherine in Taming of the Shrew, Miss Hannigan in Annie (one of the most fun parts I've ever had) I was Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, and Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream. I get such a charge out of it.
The hardest role I've ever had to play would definitely be Mrs. Lovett in Sweeny Todd. I don't know if it works the same for other actors, but I try to develop the character in my head. And when you start thinking like Mrs. Lovett . . . well, I'll leave the rest up to you. Walking around in her shoes was a terrifying experience, and yet she can be so sweet and naive. She's very sweet to Tobias Ragg, and both to Todd.
Yes, twice. Both times for dance routines at talent shows in elementary school.
Sure, if you count standing up and saying "I'm a yellow light, I mean caution."
For about ten years.

Thanks for an upbeat and interesting answer. I especially enjoyed your philosophy of character! I acted throughout high school and college (a LONG time ago), and admire and enjoy good performances, stage or screen. One of my nicest memories was meeting Katherine Hepburn backstage in Denver. points+
