My past belongs to me and will always be a part of me. That does not mean that I think my past is any of anyone elses business. I accept people as they are when I meet them what has happened in their past is what has made them that person but it is not really any of my business unless they choose to tell me.

We are shaped by everything that has happened to us in our past. I think we should take what we have learned and hopefully become more wise and use that wisedom to live in the present and future.

Your past and present shape your future is the way I think.

Well, a little bit of both. The past should stay in the past, for example - I shouldn't sit there dwelling over thingd I've done and regret doing, seeing as there is no way to go back and change them now. However, everything you have gone through has changed you in some little (or big) way and made you who you are today - so it inevitably changes your decisions for the future.

Depends, if you let your past and regrets about this and that consume you to the point you become stagnant then you need to let go a bit. That said, there is geat wisdom in the quote 'those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it'. Its relevant not merely on a national scale but also in your personal life. Take the knowledge you gain from your past and apply it to have a better future, don't dwell on the past and deprive yourself of any future.
