  • One ot the best preserved castles that is still intact is the Tower of London. Buildinig started in 1067 by William I (or William the Conqueror or William the Bastard (but never to his face!))and added and altered by sucessive monarchs. It was used as a royal palace, mint, zoo, prison and even as recently as WW2 a concentration camp. I'm not sure of it's origional dimensions as it stated out as one building (The White Tower)and grew.
