If he has a cat, the cat probably peed on his pot smelling clothes.. some cats like to pee on clothes, if he is a lousy housekeeper, they are plentiful on the floor for the cat..(they don't have to smell like pot for the cat to do this)

I've never smelled pot that smelled like cat urine. There's a strain of pot that smells like a skunk, though.

There is a Canadian strain called cat piss. It really just smells strong though, like cat piss does - but the bud itself doesn't actually smell like cat urine. The person probably just needed a bath maybe?

oh yeah--I have had buds smell just like piss...and no there were no cats around. I think it is some form of ammonia in the weed....it smells sometimes like this when it is being cured--and if not cured long enough I have had some smell like cat piss. I do not use fertilizer so it was not from that either....just a natural thing but it is pretty nasty.

Amphetamine sulphate (Speed, Wizz) is a much more likely cause for a smell like cat urine.

Yes, it is ammonia and I have seen it happen with weed that was not harvested and or dryed properly. I am not sure exactly how the ammonia is produced, but it definately seems to have something to do with drying. Also, I think that in SF they is ammonia added to the water so if you are using tap water that might be the problem as well.

Here where I live there is a drought like no other, We have never seen it this bad EVER, I was told its because of the elections who knows, anyways the only thing that seems to be going around is this cat piss smelling stuff, We have never seen it before (or smelled it lol) but I told my boyfriend it smells like the liter box, I dont know what makes it smell like that Its not bad weed just stinks and sucks to smoke cause of the taste. I just want the shit that we never had a problem getting before to come back, and if the droughts due to the elections then I want them to be over ASAP. PS. ok everyone im going to help you all out here.....and you shouldnt smoke weed because its obviously messing with your brains.....first off...if weed smells like ammonia its because it got wet or cured improperly, and is now growing MOLD on it.....secondly "cat piss smell" is NOT the same as ammonia smell....if you live near an urban area you should know this.....that bud is called piff, which is just another name for amazing weed....theres a few diff kinds of piff....the stuff that smells like cat piss is hands down THE BEST bud...and if you have ever had the real bud that this person is talkin about you wouldn't question that....for me..there is only 1 real kind, its called poppy around here....and to be honest most of the time its laced with opium or heroin, which gives it a weird smell, and leaves a residue on the bag...very good kush has that smell sometimes too, but not as strong....i dont know exactly what strain it is, its a huge secret...if anyone knows i would love to know...but it is THE BEST stuff out there....anywhere.....now you know. Edit: Warning, be careful with this stuff, the cops are no fools, and they test it. And if its laced you get charged with possession of narcotics. I know a guy or two who have been charged with possession of narcotics, when the cops test the stuff, and it has dope in it. But more then likely your bud isn't laced, you would know it, plus it costs twice as much as good bud and usually only comes in small bags.
