  • Many times a few days before whelping a female will have what I call a "stringy" urine or the egg white type of discharge. This is mucus and is normal. Is she trying to nest in various places ie under bushes, the closet? Is she panting heavily and looking worried? These would be signs of impending whelping as she is having mild contractions. Should the discharge color turn dark browny red ( rusty ) or is bright red then I would call the vet for advice.
