Fantastic. I remember the first club with no smoking, and they did it before the ban. Fantastic atmosphere.
-
i love it. why should the rest of us suffer?

I'm all for it! As a 'reformed' ex-smoker, the longer I go without smoking the more the smell of smoke bothers me! I've left winning slot machines because the person who just sat down next to me is a smoker. AND when I have to deal with paperwork of a smoker, I have to spray it with Lysol first to try to neutralize the smell!

I enjoy kowing my children's heath will not be comprimised by someone's habbit.

I don't think ANY group should be scorned as much as the smokers have been. Who is going to get cancer from being in an outdoor setting in the general vicinity of a smoker? It's like mass hysteria. And have you seen the outrageous taxes recently placed on cigarettes? Why weren't other such items taxed to death, such as alcohol, which is equally as deadly?

I think its a fantastic idea. My country (ireland) was the first european country to ban smoking (5 years ago) in public places and it worked splendidly.

well I'm a smoker and I can understand banning smoking in restaurants and such but I should stil have a right to smoke in my car, house or on the street, but if non smokers had it their way we'de be strung up for it. it's all good though, as I have said before, once they eliminate smokers they will have to move on to the biggest killer in the world-obesity...and lets see how people like it when they have to stand outside in the cold getting looks of disdain as they have to wolf down their triple cheeseburger, chili cheese fries and shake because they aren't allowed to in other places becasue of their "addiction".
-
I'm completely for it. i have asthma, and whenever i'm around a smoker i have a hard time breathing. it'd be nice to be able to go outside my house without being suffocated by cigarette smoke.

... remind me again how many vitamins and nutrients are in a cigarette ... just how beneficial to everyone's health is smoking??? ... I'm glad to see no smoking signs everywhere ... ... I'm actually surprised that there are no extremists pushing for law changes so extreme that smokers will get arrested for attempted suicide for inhaling and even assault for exhaling ...

Well. It sucks. For the smokers. But it's for those who hate smoking. I guess it's fair. But it's getting overboard. Like, here in Singapore. We have restricted areas where we can ONLY smoke there. And it's getting smaller and smaller. We can't smoke at shelters, outside some areas of shopping malls, and worst of all, we have to walk a certain distance after eating before we can smoke.
-
I think it's a good move. Secondhand smoke would affect those who don't smoke more than the smokers.
-
It is great, it is always good getting home and not sticking of cigarette smoke.

I think it is government overstepping its bounds. In a free society an owner of a bar or restaurant should be able to decide what goes on in his establishment. If smoking is as unpopular as most people who have so far written here think, then most bars or restaurants would ban smoking all by themselves or lose customers. The few remaining places would be havens for the remaining smokers and everyone would be able to make their own choices.
