One on one time with them. I feel that spending time with someone is the greatest gift they could give anyone, because you never know how much longer they are going to be on this earth. I learned this hard lesson when after I got home from work one day, the Police knocked on my door, and told me that my Father died in a Car Crash. So I have learned that time with people is the most precious of all gifts.

Apart from the obvious flowers and jewellery, then a professionally framed picture (not some store-bought cheapie) of the two of you can be good. Other ideas include: a meal out, tickets to a show / play / concert, a locket with a photo or memento inside, a love poem you've written yourself.

Write him/her a love note, like a 2nd grader would do. Write it with your left hand (or right, if you are LH). Say something like "I like you. Do you like me?" or something innocent like a 2nd grader would write. Draw pictures around it, like flowers and clouds, etc. I did this for my wife when we were dating and she still cherishes it to this day.
