i completely agree. finally someone is speaking up about it!!!

Scrub fits, but nobody had to sign loyalty oaths to see Obama speak. Lest we forget that liberals weren't even permitted to protest anywhere NEAR Bush. His secret police kept protesters miles away from all his routes at all times. Double standard I dare say... Drives you crazy we elected a very intelligent president the world actually respects doesn't it?

SOMEONE SAID IT! THANK GOD FOR YOU, USER! Every time I have expressed any opinion that wasn't like the total mainstream, i'm always almost executed for it. YES, HYPOCRISY sums it up.

You paint liberals with a pretty borad brush. Have you ever listened to liberal talk radio? They are always going on about things they don't like about what the administration has done, or senator or congressperson so and so. I personlly am unhappy with things the Obama Administration has done, as well as various other elected officials. Yes, there are some on the left (and the right) who will toe the party line to the bitter end, but to broad brush all liberals (or conservatives) like that is not helpful to the discussion.

It works the same way with conservatives man. I had dinner with someone who would bash Obama relentlessly tonight, but don't you dare say a thing about Bush. Every political party has their hypocrites.

I don't have a double standard (assuming I qualify as a liberal). I'm waiting for Obama to do something worth bitching about and the Obama-haters to gripe about more important things than what gifts he gives, what jokes he makes, or what clothes his wife wears. I gave Bush approx. two years in office before I really started griping about him. Obama has been in office less than three months. If he is not achieving positive results a year or two down the line (although he has already done some things I wholeheartedly support), I will be the one bitching about him.

"Liberal" and "Conservative" are like different cliques of teenage girls, trying to gain control of the school quad at lunchtime: there's lots of eye-gouging and name-calling, but not much critical thinking. Why? Simple: critical thinking is incompatible with broad generalizations and groupthink. Any time you have a whole swarm of people who share the same exact views and respond in chorus, you can bet that you're not dealing with critical thinking. There's a deep dishonor and lack of integrity on both poles of the political spectrum in America -- each side is pretending to have the Answers, each side is screaming at the opposition and name-calling, but the truth is that the entire battle between liberal and conservative is a waste of everyone's energy. Every problem is distinct. Being a liberal or a conservative does NOT tell you what we should do about the many problems in our world. It gives you a jersey so you can tell your team from the other team, but it does not mean you know what the hell you're talking about. Only those who look at each situation with an open mind, who consider all sides of each question, who catch preconceptions rising before they take over the mind, and who challenge any and all assumptions -- have any chance of rising above the petty squabbling and being truly helpful.
